A Bit About Us
Turning Interest Into Action
Since 2006, Reading Circle has been promoting and supporting child literacy in Scarborough. We measure our success not by monetary size but by the number of children who participate in our program. We strive to help create joy and desire to read for all children who join. By putting reading in a positive light and encouraging reading as a group, children develop their literacy and social skills.
To help with our goals, we have a dedicated group of lovely volunteers acting as our “reading buddies” and mentors. With both high school and post-secondary students, we can facilitate group reading sessions, crafts, and guest presentations. These wonderful volunteers develop leadership and presentation skills while also gaining experience working with children (along with the added volunteer hours!).
